Partnership with Coursera,

SKKU Provides High Quality Educational Contents

- Opens 8 courses including, Korean Language, Korean Philosophy, Big Data, Energy, Software, etc.

SKKU announces it has signed a partnership with Coursera, a global MOOC platform, to plan and provide high quality educational contents to people around the world.

The partnership between SKKU and Coursera was signed in June, 2020 on the creation and provision of educational contents. Starting with <The Korean Alphabet: An Introduction to Hangeul> by Professor Geumhee Lee (Dept. of Korean Language and Literature), SKKU has opened eight courses in various fields such as Korean language education, Korean philosophy, Big data, Energy, Software, etc. Soon after opening the course, more than 15,000 students have received much attention.

It is available for anyone who is interested in taking courses after creating an account on Coursera webpage (https://www.coursera.org/). Most courses are free of charge but a payment is required when issuing a certificate of completion.

However, SKKU has an agreement with Coursera on Coursera for Campus (C4C) services, allowing students at SKKU to obtain a certificate for free. Additionally, professors at SKKU can utilize courses from other companies or universities in Coursera as a reference.

Junmo Cho, Executive Vice President & Vice President of Academic Affairs, said “Through Coursera, we will plan educational contents in various fields and provide quality education services to people around the world in the future. Sungkyunkwan University will also lead the new educational environment in the post-corona era through continuous educational innovation.”

Coursera is a massive open online course (MOOC) provider, which has 77 million learners, the largest number of users in the world and offers 4,300 courses. More than 150 universities around the world, including Stanford, Yale, and Johns Hopkins, and more than 50 companies, including Amazon, Google, Alibaba, and IBM has joined. In Korea, KAIST, Yonsei University, and Pohang University of Science and Technology operate courses on Coursera.
