Sungkyunkwan University(SKKU) has been selected as a key partner university of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province for the 「Regional Innovation System & Education(RISE)」, jointly promoted by the Ministry of Education and local governments.

Seoul RISE Project Group

The Seoul RISE Project Group at Sungkyunkwan University(SKKU) operates under the slogan “Seoul RISE SOUL MATE,” leading the realization of Seoul’s vision for a “Global Future Innovation Growth City” by focusing on the city’s strategic industries such as AI, fintech, and creative industries. Pursuing co-prosperity with the local community, the Seoul RISE Project Group aims to cultivate innovation-driven talent tailored to Seoul and to establish a sustainable foundation for industrial development through the advancement of the lifelong vocational education ecosystem. In close cooperation with Seoul’s industrial ecosystem, SKKU promotes:

- Establishment of a global education and research infrastructure
- Cultivation of creative talent
- Advancement of the lifelong vocational education system

Through these initiatives, SKKU seeks to grow into a global innovation hub at the center of the metropolitan area.

Gyeonggi RISE Project Group

The Gyeonggi RISE Project Group at Sungkyunkwan University(SKKU) operates under the vision of “Creating a Global Fandom Economy Hub centered on G7 Industries.” Its goal is to develop an innovative business model that generates a new dimension of global fandom based on world-class technological capabilities. To this end, the Gyeonggi RISE Project Group focuses on:

- Strategic research and development in advanced technology fields such as semiconductors, biotechnology, and AI
- Talent cultivation tailored to the needs of regional industries
- Expansion and advancement of industry–academia–region linked clusters

Through these efforts, the Gyeonggi RISE Project Group contributes to balanced regional development and the establishment of a sustainable industrial ecosystem in the Gyeonggi area. In particular, as a “New Civilization Anchor University,” it faithfully fulfills its role as a central pillar of an innovation ecosystem in which technology, talent, industry, and region co-evolve.
