Kim Min-woo, a doctoral student in Bio-Mechatronic Engineering (supervised by Professor Park Jin-seong, Nano Bio-Environmental Sensor Laboratory), achieved the feat of winning the bronze medal at the 30th Samsung Human Tech Paper Awards in 2024.

Furthermore, in the same paper awards, doctoral candidate Kim Min-woo (first author) from Professor Park Jin-seong's research team, doctoral candidate Kim Chi-hyun (co-author), integrated master's and doctoral candidate Park Dae-il (co-author), and Jo Won-jun, an integrated master's and doctoral candidate in the Meta Biohealth Department (co-author), all won the bronze medal in the Mechanical Engineering category. They were awarded a prize of 5 million won each.

Kim Min-woo's experience of winning the '2023 SKKU Graduate Student Paper Awards' in September 2023 served as a basis for his application to the Samsung Human Tech Paper Awards, where he was able to achieve outstanding results.

The title of Kim Min-woo's winning paper is "Portable Electrochemical Sensor with Vibration Model for Point-of-Use Detection of Heavy Metals." This paper is a study on sensors detecting heavy metals in water quality, which overcomes the difficulties of on-site use by promoting material exchange through nanomaterials and vibration.

Kim Min-woo, the award winner, stated, "In an era where water pollution is severe, I will continue to devote myself to research so that this sensor technology can provide practical help to people's lives."

The Samsung Human Tech Paper Awards is a scientific paper award established by Samsung Electronics in 1994, targeting high school and university students, both domestic and international, to expand the scientific and technological base and cultivate scientific talents.
