Mechanical Engineering Department-SKKU Advanced Institute of Nano Technology (SAINT) Dr. Jang Ah Kim appointed as an assistant professor at Imperial College London

▲ Dr. Jang Ah Kim, a graduate of our university's Mechanical Engineering Department and SAINT, is currently participating in the annual regional public science and arts festival, the Great Exhibition Road Festival 2023

For September 2023, Dr. Jang Ah Kim has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, located in London, UK (QS World University Rankings 2024, 6th place). She will also be affiliated with The Hamlyn Centre, a surgical robotics center, during her tenure.

After graduating from our university's Mechanical Engineering Department (Bachelor's degree) in 2011, Dr. Jang Ah Kim entered the integrated master's and doctoral program at SAINT (Ijima Scholarship recipient) in 2017, earning her Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Tae-Sung Kim. Subsequently, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at The Hamlyn Centre (Department of Computing) and the Stevens Group (Department of Materials) at Imperial College London, where she conducted research and development on optical sensors for the diagnosis of intra and extra-bodily diseases and fiber-optic-based medical devices for bacteria-robot control.

Dr. Jang Ah Kim will be affiliated with The Hamlyn Centre, jointly operated by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Surgery and Cancer within the medical school at Imperial College London. She will lead research on nanoscale and microscale sensing and robotics for minimally invasive surgery.
