5 Books from SKKU Press Selected as 2022 NAS Outstanding Academic Books

SKKU Press achieved the feat of selecting 5 types for the Outstanding Academic Books of the Korean Academy in 2022 organized by the National Academy of Sciences.

Among the books published by SKKU Press, professor Sang Hoon Bae’s (Department of Education) <College Entrance System: Is it a status system or an education system?>(co-authored by Namsoo Seo), <History of the *Gwageo Formation> by professor Wonsoo Ha (Department of History), <The Return of Emotion> by emeritus professor Seok-whan Hahn (Soongsil University Department of Philosophy), <Goddesses of Korea> by emeritus professor Wha Kyoung Kim (Yeungnam University Department of Korean Language&Literature), <The Evolution of Southeast Asian Cities> by professor Gwang Ya Han (Dongguk University Division of Architectural Engineering) was selected, with the largest number of publications among university publications.

In <College Entrance System: Is it a status system or an education system?>, professor Bae highlighted the educational and social phenomena that influenced the formation and change of the college entrance system and even suggested the direction the college entrance system should aim for as an educational system and social changes that have affected the college entrance system with its identity system.

In <History of the *Gwageo Formation>, professor Ha traces the long process of forming and establishing the system based on the literature, from the Sui Dynasty problem, where a new official selection system called Gwageo was introduced, to King Hyun Jong of Tang Dynasty.

The National Academy of Sciences selects excellent academic books in the fields of humanities, social sciences, Korean studies, and natural sciences every year for the purpose of promoting research and writing in basic academic fields.

A total of 3 types of SKKU Press were selected in 2020, 2 types in 2021, and 5 types were selected this year, continuing its reputation as a university press that publishes excellent academic books.
