SKKU announced that a research paper by lead author, Mr. Koo, Young Won (24, 4th year) from the Biomechatronics Department, and corresponding author, Professor Kim, Geun Hyung, has been published in Biofabrication (Impact Factor: 4.3, JCR Biomaterials Journal among the top 10 percent), an academic journal in the biometric system manufacturing field issued by the British Institute of Physics on May 18th.

The title of the research paper is 'New Strategy for Enhancing In Situ Cell Viability of Cell-printing Process via Piezoelectric Transducer-assisted Three-dimensional Printing’.  It uses a piezoelectric transducer that changes an alternating current signal into micro vibrations in order to overcome the shortcomings of existing cell-printing and improve cell viability.

Mr. Koo, who is studying at Professor Kim’s lab, had another research paper about a different subject published at the academic journal issued by The Royal Society last May.  He had two SCI papers published during his undergraduate years as a lead author including another paper published this May.

Professor Kim explained, “This paper is about Biomechanical engineering technology that maximizes the cell viability of three-dimensional cell printing technology, which is the main interest of recent human tissue regeneration.  It’s drawing attention from the academic world since the results have the potential to make a massive contribution to the human tissue regeneration field.”
