Sungkyunkwan University’s (SKKU) Faculty of Convergence Engineering for Future City (Dean, Prof. Soon-Ok Kwon) and the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for exchange of students and cooperation in studies. The agreement has been initiated since March 8, 2016 and will be valid for the following five years.  The objectives are reciprocal exchange of students, lectures, and studies.

TUM is ranked 53rd in the world by ELSEVIER, an academic publishing company that has been established since 1868.  The Faculty of Architecture at TUM is one of the renowned faculties in Germany for its outstanding research processes as well as its exemplary leading professor, Thomas Bock, who is charged with initiating the following activities:

- Exchanging students and holding co-lectures
- Promoting collaboration between professors from the two universities
- Establishing a joint research program
- Conducting joint academic seminars and meetings
- Exchanging academic documents and materials
- Engaging in joint quality assurance benchmarking

The initial exchange student program will be implemented on October 1, 2016.  Individuals will be selected based on their official scores on English tests with approval by each university.

The efforts made by the Faculty of Convergence Engineering for Future City at SKKU, which utilized the EU Erasmus (European Union Student Exchange Programme) and AUSMIP (Exchange Program for Preliminary Doctors), contributed to the agreement with TUM.  The MOU will also play a significant part in facilitating the exchange of studies and human resources between SKKU, TUM, and other EU Institutes.
