Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) Museum shows a special exhibit ‘The lost time, life in the colonial era’ from August 28 to December 28.

This exhibit celebrates the 70th year of Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule, and recalls the lives and spirit of Korean people who resisted against imperial rule for those 36 years.

The museum asserts that the exhibit will be more than the ordinary depictions of the colonial era, and will characterize itself through audience direct participation pieces.

One example will be the trick art placed at the beginning and the end  of  the exhibit. At the beginning the audience can be Ahn Jung Geun who is shooting Ito Hirobumi, and at the end art shows people marching forward with Korean flags in hand.

Also in the exhibit you can see a Chireonsi (7 letter Classical poem) composed by Lee, Wan yong (traitor who signed the anaxation agreement with Japan) expressing his frustrations over no recognition being made about his deeds, and a post card made in Japan depicting Ahn as a villain (兇漢) and his gun as a deadly weapon (凶器).

In addition lives of the ordinary people living in Korea in those times of resistance against Japanese imperial rule are also on display. Pamphlets on touring Chosen and visual media depicting Chosen as a women are also on display. A photo portrait showing a new years party for the head of Shinchun police department that altogether shows Japanese police flirting with a Chosen gisengs (geisha) and  Japanese women standing with a stiffen expression. Also a spiked bat that was used to torture Chosen prisoners is also in the exhibit.

The exhibition is open during weekdays from 10:00am to 4:00pm, weekends and holidays are not open. For a group of under 20 people a professional curator can be provided to give detailed explanations.
