Sungkyunkwan(SKKU) puts 15 departments in QS top 100 subjects.

 

On 28th of April, the British global university rating agency QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) announced its’ Subject Based World Ranking list. SKKU put its’ name in the top 200 for 26 subjects with 15 of them making it up to top 100.

 

The top 100 subject list consists of Pharmacy(45th), Chemical Engineering(49th), Modern Linguistics(20th) with the rest taking 51 ~ 100 positions- Law, Business, Economics, Financial Accounting, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Material Sciences, Computer Information Systems, Chemistry, Communications.

 

To look at the overall report, great progress has been made by the Korean universities especially in the field of Engineering, where 10 schools in Chemical Engineering, 8 schools in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and 7 schools in Computer & Information Systems put their names in the top 200.

 

‘The results of this ranking shows that Korea’s ascension as a ‘Technology Superpower’ has been greatly contributed by Korean universities.’ remarked Martin Ince, Academic Advisory Board in QS.

 

In this year’s list the university that put up the most subjects in the top 10 was MIT(US). While U.S. and English universities made up for most of the top seats, universities from other regions such as  National University of Singapore(NUS), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, University Tokyo, Australian National Universtiy, University of Hong Kong and Nanyang Engineering University to name a few, also put their names in the top list.
