Only two universities in Korea are predicted to get the top grade in the University Reform Assessment, and Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is one of them. In an article by The Financial News on January 13, SKKU was predicted to receive an 'A' grade in the assessment conducted by Korea's Ministry of Education.

In order to receive an ‘A’ grade, universities must receive a perfect score at the  first evaluation stage -- educational environment -- and score over 80 percent with the remaining indicators. The assessment indicators for educational environment include full-time professor procurement (8 points), lecturer procurement (5 points), educational restitution ratio (5 points), among others.

According to the Higher Education in Korea service, SKKU’s procurement rates for full-time professors and lecturers were 99.6 and 138.2 percent respectively. As for the educational restitution ratio, SKKU received full 5 stars which indicates a score in the top 10 percent for the educational restitution ratio.

Through an analysis of the educational environment indicators, there are only two universities expected to get an ‘A’ grade, and SKKU along with Yonsei University round up the top 2.

Universities that receive the ‘A’ grade will have autonomy in student quota reduction.
