As the 2014 fall semester rolls to a close, Sungkyunkwan (SKKU) students are greeted by a giant inflatable penguin who has been attracting a lot of attention. It is actually Pororo the Little Penguin, a popular cartoon character who debuted in 2003.
Pororo is located on both SKKU campuses: near Samsung Library at the Natural Sciences Campus, and in Geumjandi Square in front of the Business School at the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.
In Seoul, he carries a sign encouraging students to have confidence when they take their final exams. At the Suwon campuses, Pororo wishes students a warm winter vacation and a happy new year.
Pororo was introduced to the world by Iconix Entertainment, whose CEO, Choi Jong-il, graduated from SKKU's Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1988.
