SKKU-Wiley, 2024 Wiley Forum Successfully Concluded

-Elevator Pitch Session for One-on-One Discussions between Participants and Editors

The inaugural 'Wiley Forum 2024: Sustainable Nanotechnology,' organized by the global academic publisher Wiley, took place from March 28th (Thurs) to 30th (Sat) for three days on the Natural Science Campus.

This forum, jointly organized by Wiley, well-known for publishing various academic journals such as Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials, and prominent textbooks, and Sungkyunkwan University, brought together over 100 research leaders (PIs) from Asia-Pacific, including Korea, to discuss the latest trends in sustainable nanotechnology research.

The event commenced with welcome speeches from Jose Oliveira, Senior Director at Wiley, Choi Jae-bung, Vice President of the Natural Science Campus at Sungkyunkwan University, and Kim Dong-hwan, Director of the International Cooperation Convergence Bio Research Institute. Yu Pil-jin, Director of the Planning and Coordination Office, Kim Sun-kook, Deputy Director of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Office, and Jeon Il, Deputy Director of the International Office, were also in attendance.

From the Wiley side, Dr. Guangchen Xu, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director, along with Dr. Shen Muxian, Dr. Geraldine Echue, and Dr. Tang Jing, Associate Editors of Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials, and Advanced Functional Materials respectively, participated. Particularly noteworthy in this forum was the innovative "Elevator Pitch" session, providing participants with the opportunity for one-on-one discussions with editors. It indicates Wiley's recognition of Korea and Sungkyunkwan University as hubs for education and research in the Asia-Pacific region.

The second Wiley Forum is scheduled for next year, with an improved program and collaboration with other publishers, expected to enhance both scale and depth with the participation of 200 PI-level researchers.

The event was organized by the Sungkyun Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT), the International Cooperation Convergence Bio Research Institute (PBRC), the Korean Society of Chemical Engineers Japan Branch, and J Lab N&T Co., Ltd. It was co-sponsored by Wiley partner journals BMEMat, Carbon Energy, Interdisciplinary Medicine, SusMat, along with our university's SAINT, Department of Chemistry, and BK Research Division within the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
