SKKU’s Start-up Support Foundation held the second preliminary round of <Seoul Campus Town Food Start-up Contest> online on September 18 (Friday). This event was organized in association with Campus Town Project of Kyung Hee University and Baehwa Women’s University. The evaluation, which took place at SKKU’s Kingo Start-up Space, was conducted online and live, with six professional judges attending.

The 2020 Seoul Campus Town Food Start-up Contest is a part of a project that the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Campus Town have been working together with universities and the private sectors to foster youth and co-prosperity in the region, and is designed to discover and foster food start-ups that will lead the post-corona with the theme of various food-related contents, food ideas and food techniques.

Young-wook Seung, a CEO of forspace who participated in evaluation, said “There are many untact start-up teams due to the COVID-19 issue, and we hope that many untact start-ups selected here will be able to contribute to the actual market.”

Start-up teams from various fields, ranging from food products for the elderly population to platform services that will ease the burden of food ingredients for single households, participated in the second preliminary round. In particular, it seems that the ideas of start-up teams, which are diversified with ‘health food, vegan and fitness’ reflecting the latest food trends, have distinguished themselves in terms of diet and post-corona.

One of the judges, Yoon-ho Jeong said “I think small start-up ideas will gather to create a big trend. Also, I was impressed by the young entrepreneurs’ quick response to the changing diet and lifestyle. I hope that this will lead to regional development.” at the end of the preliminary round.

There are fourteen winning teams from the second preliminary round and the final winning team will be announced at the “Seoul Campus Town Festival” on October 30(Fri).
