Prof. Hong-jin Jeon, Received Commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare on ‘Suicide Prevention Day’
Professor Hong-Jin Jeon, Samsung Medical Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, received commendation from the minister of health and welfare on ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’ (September 10).
Since 2017, Prof. Jeon has been the head of the Korea Psychological Autopsy Center and has been credited with research to prevent suicide and support the bereaved families.
In particular, the recently published book “A book for very sensitive people” has received lots of attention from the public. It reveals Korean’s stress patterns and characteristics of depression, and providing various empirical examples that are useful to broaden their perspectives on others and themselves from excessive tension.
Currently, the book is one of the best sellers in major bookstores. Additionally, the copyrights have been exported to China and Taiwan and they are expected to be translated and published.
Prof. Jeon said “The first step to prevent suicide is to identify one’s own condition. And with affectionate care from others and help of experts, we can avoid one’s extreme choices cause by depression. Thus, we will focus more on improving our social awareness.”
