Dr. Hye Jin GEUM, who received her Ph.D. (Specialized in human computer interaction) at SKKU’s Dept. of Interaction Science, has been appointed as UX Design faculty member at California State University Long Beach (CSULB) starting the 2017 fall semester.

She received a bachelor degree of fine art while studying for her master’s degree in the field of video art and media art at Goldsmiths University of London. She held an interactive design exhibition over 25 times around the world, wrote several dissertations, and gave lectures in England, the US, and Korea.

During her years attending the Dept. of Interaction Science at SKKU, she received detailed lessons from various professors about how to create future designs as an educator and a researcher. In particular, she gave special thanks to her advising professor, Prof. Frank BIOCCA who helped her to learn how to have a global mindset and about research operations through the joint research activities with the M.I.N.D Lab.

The reason she chose SKKU Dept. of Interaction Science was that its faculty members are known to be world-class. Many distinguished faculty members around the world can participate in educational programs that the government supports. Also, many graduates can successfully start their work in cultural content industries such as IT, robotics, and games from their practical research experiences that the department provides.

“A human computer interaction field needs many human resources. In particular, many companies in the culture content industry are looking for talented students. I believe the convergence education based on theories that the Dept. of Interaction Science provides will help students to deal with practical work,” said Prof. GEUM.
