Dr. Myeong Ok LIM who received her Ph.D. last month from the SKKU’s Department of Journalism and Information – Communication, will start working as a professor in the field of communication at Loyola University in USA from this July. This is the first time in Loyola University’s history to offer a tenure teaching position to someone who doesn’t have any experience studying abroad.

For over 20 years, Dr. LIM worked at a company managing foreign corporations’ promotion and reputation. At the age of 36, she was appointed as a CEO of the promotion consulting corporation. While working, she became ambitious to study further, so registered in Yonsei University’s Journalism and Promotion Graduate School. Finally, she resigned from her job and began the challenge of obtaining a Ph.D. degree from SKKU. Her dissertation subject was ‘Importance of preventing crisis by looking back at corporates’ cases of failure’.

Dr. LIM aimed to become a professor at a US university during her Ph.D. years. She applied to 20 universities and received positive calls from 4. “I gave teaching demonstrations to students and questions from students didn’t stop even after the class finished. I could sense that I would receive an offer”, Dr. Lim said.
