Sungkyunkwan University(SKKU)’s Samsung Changwon Hospital announced on April 20, Prof. Kim Young-zoon of the Neurology Department received the Song Jin-un Academic Award at the 33rd Korean Neurological Society’s Annual Spring Meeting held in Jeju-do.
The Song Jin-un Academic Award was established to honor its founder the late Prof. Song Jin-un, and annually awards the best academic paper of each year.
Prof. Kim’s research on the cell growth and relapse of ‘aypical meningioma’- a form of brain tumor that has a high rate of relapse and shows resistants to anticarcinogenic and radiation treatment- was highly regarded as to contribute to enhancing the success rate for treatment of the disease by providing medical information on how to predict its relapse.
Prof. Kim’s paper was published in the distinguished neurological journal ‘Journal of Neurosurgery’ last year.
Studying as a visiting scholar at the world renown medical institute MD Anderson Cancer Center, U.S.A., Prof. Kim benefits from the experience to carry out his research and treatment of brain tumors, and has published over 30 papers. Prof. Kim also has his name on all 3 major biographers of the world.
