Sungkyunkwan Universtiy(SKKU) Department of French Language and Literature(French Department) holds it annual French Theatre Performance on March 26 to 28 at the small auditoriumin the Business Building. This year will be marking it’s 37th performance.
The French Department (Department Chair Prof. Kang Hi-seok) have been preparing for the performance since last winter. A total of four performances will be held; one time each for 26 and 27 at 7:00 pm; while on 28, there will be two performances, one at 3:00 pm and the other at 7:00 pm. The performance will be done in French and Korean sutitles will be provided.
The play is from Eugene Marin Labiche, and it is called ‘L'affaire de la rue de Lourcine ‘(The Incident at Lourcine Street). Eugene Marin Labiche is a French play writer from the the 19th century who has produced over a 100 plays.
The play made its debut in 1857 March 26 at Palais-Royale, it is comedy about two class mates getting in trouble after having too much to drink.
The SKKU French Department Theatre Performance has a proud and long history. It receives donations from alumni and out side institutes like the French Cultural Mission, Alliance Franccaise French Education Center etc. In addition eateries around the campus also give donations to this annual event.
