This year’s 12th Pfizer medical awarded in the field of clinical medicine was presented to Prof. Koh, Won-jung, internal medicine of SKKU school of medicine.

 

The National Academy of Medicine of Korea and Pfizer Korea announced that it was awarding Prof. Koh for his research on ‘Macrolide Treatment for Mycobacterium abscessus and Mycobacterium massiliense Infection and Inducible Resistance’. In the announcement they recognized the contributions the research will be making since it opens a new way to diagnose and treat multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, an illness with only a 50% ~ 60% cure rate.

 

The award ceremony will be held on November 11. 18:00 at the Chosun Hotel where the recipient will be awarded a certificate and prize money of KWN 30 million.

 

The Pfizer medical award was established in 1999 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pfizer Korea. Each year it selects and announces 2 papers from the fields of clinical medicine and basic medicine, on the basis of their excellence, creativity, scientific characteristics and contribution factor.
