Scholarship Award Ceremony for the 2023 Fall Semester held by the Alumni Association


The scholarship award ceremony for the 2023 fall semester, organized by the Alumni Association, took place on February 7th (Wednesday) at the 600th Anniversary Hall of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.


The Alumni Association is an alumni group of professors from the alma mater, formed in 1979 to contribute to the university's development, foster camaraderie, and promote research exchanges. It currently has around 260 active members.


The Alumni Association Scholarship is funded through regular dues contributions to encourage the academic pursuits of junior alumni. To date, this scholarship has awarded approximately 350 million won in scholarships to 121 students.


The beneficiaries of this semester's scholarships are Kim Daehee, a student majoring in Political Science and Diplomacy, and Gu Bonyoung, a student majoring in Systems Management Engineering. The Alumni Association granted each of them 2.5 million won, totaling 5 million won in scholarships.


The ceremony was attended by President Yoo Jibeom, Association Chairman Professor Lee Donghyun of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science, Treasurer Professor Gong Yonggu of the Department of Systems Management Engineering, Treasurer Professor Jo Wonbin of the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, and the incoming Alumni Association Chairman Professor Kim Kyungho of the East Asian Studies Institute.

Professor Lee Donghyun expressed his hopes for the students, saying, "I hope that our alma mater's juniors, on the occasion of today's scholarship award ceremony, will set bigger goals and achieve grand dreams."


President Yoo Jibeom expressed deep gratitude to the Alumni Association professors, saying, "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Association for their significant contributions to the school's development. The sincerity and significance embedded in these scholarships are profound." He also added, "I hope they become great individuals who can help and serve as role models for their juniors."

Kim Daehee, one of the scholarship recipients, expressed gratitude, saying, "Thanks to this scholarship, I have the opportunity to pursue various dreams, and I will strive to repay this kindness and help my juniors in the future."


Gu Bonyoung also expressed gratitude, saying, "I am thankful for the valuable scholarships created with your generous hearts. I will always strive to become a person who shows appreciation to their neighbors and brings happiness to others."
