Opening Ceremony of the 2023 World Korean Legal Professionals Association General Meeting and Academic Conference


The Opening Ceremony of the 30th Annual Conference and Academic Symposium of the International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL), a gathering of Korean legal professionals worldwide, was held on September 15th (Friday) at the New Millennium Hall in the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, commemorating the 600th anniversary of the campus.


To celebrate this event, Myung-Soo Kim, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Nam-Seok Yoo, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, and Young-Hoon Kim, President of the Korean Bar Association, visited our university. After a 30-minute meeting with President Ji-Beom Yoo and Director Young-Soo Joo, they proceeded to the New Millennium Hall, the venue of the event.

The opening ceremony of the conference began with the screening of a congratulatory video message from President Suk-Yeol Yoon. Following this, congratulatory speeches were delivered by Chief Justice Myung-Soo Kim, Chief Justice Nam-Seok Yoo, President Young-Hoon Kim of the Korean Bar Association, and President Ji-Beom Yoo.

After the opening ceremony, approximately 300 participants moved to the Law Building's session rooms for the main academic symposium.


On the 16th (Saturday), various discussions on corporate legal issues, human rights, pro bono work, in-house legal matters, and more were held in six different sessions under the theme 'Defying Gravity and Soaring Together-Toward a Sustainable Future.' In addition to the main sessions, various networking events such as Young Lawyers Night and Women's Lunch were held off-campus.


Founded in 1988, the International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL) has over 3,500 Korean legal professionals active in more than 23 countries worldwide.
