Sungkyunkwan University Achieves "Semiconductor Treble"... The Only One Among National Universities

-Secured all three government-funded projects in the semiconductor field

-Will foster talent in the next-generation semiconductor field

Sungkyunkwan University, led by President Ji-beom Yoo, has achieved a "treble" in semiconductor talent cultivation.

On the 13th, the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology announced that Sungkyunkwan University, along with eight other universities and university alliances, has been selected for the 2023 academic year semiconductor specialization university support program. Through this program, Sungkyunkwan University is expected to receive approximately 17.4 billion KRW (approximately 15.7 million USD) in support from the Ministry of Education over a four-year period, further accelerating the cultivation of convergent talents in the next-generation semiconductor field.

Previously, at the end of May, Sungkyunkwan University was selected as a "Semiconductor Specialized Graduate School" for the training of advanced doctoral-level professionals in the semiconductor industry (announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy). In early June, it was also selected as the leading university for the "Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University Semiconductor Branch" project (announced by the Ministry of Education).

As a result, Sungkyunkwan University has demonstrated its strength as the only university in the country to secure all three recent government-funded projects in the semiconductor field, proving its solid competitive edge in the semiconductor industry.

President Ji-beom Yoo expressed his commitment, stating, "We will cultivate leaders who will lead the 

semiconductor industry, which is a key future industry and an important national asset for ensuring national security and technological sovereignty."
