Prior to taking the position, he worked as an assistant professor in the Dept. of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Building Performance and Diagnostics in the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University. He also received his Master’s degree in Architecture at Texas A&M University in the U.S., and MS and BS degree in Architectural Engineering at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. Dr. Choi's primary research interests are in the areas of advanced controls for human-building integration, comprehensive post-occupancy evaluation, indoor environmental quality control, and environmental building design. More than 30 research papers have been published in prestigious international journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings, based on his work for recent years. His academic achievements were recognized by major research and conference organizations, and he received a Best Paper Award from the Architecture Institute of Korea in 2012, and a 2014-2015 New Investigator Award from the U.S. Architectural Research Centers Consortium. As an interdisciplinary researcher, he has participated in multiple research projects sponsored by governmental agencies, industry partners and research grant programs including the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Boston Society of Architects/AIA, U.S. Green Building Alliance (GBA), ALCOA, SIEMENS, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), UNEP, and U.S. Roof Construction Institute Foundation (RCIF). He is currently a technical committee member / vice-chair of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and of Environmental Design Rsearch Association (EDRA). Dr. Choi’s Bio
