One of Asia’s oldest higher-education institutions, SKKU was originally founded in 1398 as a royal academy of Confucianism. Today it has grown into one of Korea’s most international universities, swiftly rising up the university rankings.

In this year’s QS Asia rankings, we advanced to 17th, up four places from last year. Eight years ago we launched the International Summer Semester (ISS), a four-week program offered in June/July. Last year, the program attracted 1,698 students from 84 universities and became the number 1 summer program in Korea.

Building on the success of the ISS, we are introducing SKKU Winter International Student Experience (WISE), a new winter break program that will run January 6-28, 2015.

In recent years there has been increasing tourism in Korea during the coldest months, as visitors travel north to experience a Korean winter. We have created WISE specifically to cater to people from these countries.

The program was created by asking “What is something that people can’t experience anywhere else in the world?” The program consists of a three-week session conducted in English, mixing together Korean students with international students. We offer courses specific to Korea in business, culture, and technology, presented by industry experts. Many of our lectures are delivered by special guest speakers representing Korea’s top corporations including Samsung, best preparing students for life after graduation.
