Three Alumni from Department of Public Administration Were Appointed as Vice-minister Level Officials


On December 23 (Mon), President Moon appointed 10 vice-minister level officials. Among them, three graduates of Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Public Administration were selected.


Vice Minister of Education Jong-Chul Jung, is an educational expert who has served in major positions at the Ministry of Education, including the university system and academic fields. He is also considered to have a high understanding of the educational field and has a powerful driving force as he has a career as secretary-general of Gyeongsang National University and deputy superintendent of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education.


Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Jung-Bae Kim is an administrative expert who understands the overall work of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He is considered to have both policy planning and great communication skills. When he was the director of the culture and arts policy, he was in charge of the new art policy, “Life with Art,” and is well versed in cultural artists and artistic activities.


Head of Appeals Commission Jae-Kwan Lee is a former official who served as the administrative mayor of Sejong City and the mayor of Daejeon Metropolitan City. He is evaluated as one who has excellent communication skills and adjustment as he has experienced tasks in the administrative and planning sectors at both central government and local governments.


Blue House Spokesperson Min-Seok Kang said that “The new vice ministers were appointed to secure stability of governmental operation and make good results on key policies in the later parts of Moon’s government. We assigned talented people with both practical skills and morality to frontline ministries.”
