College of Information and Communication Engineering Students Won Award at the Female Engineer Capstone Design Competition Organized by KIEE

Students of Information and Communication Engineering (Hanna Shin, Dahye Kim, Mina Kim, and Yoonsung Lee) won the Excellence Award at the Female Engineer Capstone Design Competition on October 7 (Wed). The competition was organized by the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE) and held to foster creativity, practical skills, and team work skills of female students who are majoring in electrical engineering.

Under the theme of “Relieved Home IoT for people with mild dementia” Hanna Shin and three more students checked the status of patients by sending the live-streaming to a web server using Arduino and Raspberry Pi and the patient’s access status through an infrared human sensor. Additionally, they embodied a system that can open and close gas valve through flame sensors and motors to prevent fire accidents.

As such, they proposed a door notification service and a system to prevent gas stove fire accidents, and promoted to reduce the burden on the dependents and to protect dementia patients.
