Undergrad & Grad Students Participate in

Workshop Hosted by QuantEcon

Four graduate students majoring in economics and five undergraduate students studying in global economics participated in a workshop on economic modeling with python.

SKKU Professor Timothy Kam worked in collaboration with QuantEcon to launch the workshop about the importance of the growing usage of the python language in diverse fields. QuantEcon is jointly operated by ANU Professor John Stachurski and NYU professor and Nobel Prize Winner, Dr. Thomas Sargent.

On the first day of the workshop, Prof. Sargent conducted a Q & A with Prof. Stachurski, deepening the connections with participating students and enhancing their understanding.

Students Sungyung Lee and Dongmin Kim, said, “Participating in the workshop helped us broaden our understanding beyond the field of economics. We enhanced our knowledge about the study of convergence with computer science and had a chance to confirm the expandability and development of diverse career options. It was also a valuable experience for graduate students who will be playing a major role in the fourth phase of the BK-21 project.
