On May 23rd, a traditional coming-of-age ceremony was held at the Natural Sciences Campus dormitory (Bongryong haksa). This event was held in sponsor of the Etiquette Education Center of Yongin city. Participants were not only Korean but from diverse backgrounds.
The coming-of-age ceremony is the very first custom of the tradition Korean ceremonies. It is done to raise self-esteem and pride as an adult and enlighten the duties of adults. Participants would change their clothes into the appropriate dress and perform the rite with the elders in the family. The reenactment of the traditional ceremony was prepared by the dormitory to commemorate the coming-of-age day.
