SKKU School of Pharmacy Institute of Global New Medicine

 Selected as Ministry of Education’s University Centered 

Research Institute Support Project


SKKU (President Dong Ryeol Shin) announced that the School of Pharmacy Institute of Global New Medicine was selected for the Ministry of Education’s 2022 University Centered Research Institute support project on this 18th.


2022 University Centered Research Institute support project is a project that fosters new research human resources by establishing a key base for the university’s research through reinforcing the infrastructure of university attached research institute in the science & technology field and inducing characterization and specialization of university research facilities.

SKKU School of Pharmacy Institute of Global New Medicine (Head of Institute, Jeongmi Lee), due to this selection from the project, will receive a government contribution of KRW 7 billion for a maximum of nine years, investigating the new medicine for cancer/psychopathy/infectious disease based on allostasis load control and promoting the research human resource to develop this new medicine.

This project has 6 School of Pharmacy faculties involved and is assigned with these specific assignments. The first assignment (Supervisor: Hyojong Lee, Researcher: Choon Gon Jang, Wonsik Lee) investigates the occurrence of cancer/psychopathy/infectious disease due to allostasis load and its controlling mechanism. The second assignment (Supervisor: Jeongmi Lee, Researcher: Chung Sub Kim, So Ah Lee) establishes the allostasis load control target pertaining to the 3 diseases and the platform for discovering the control material.


Head of the Institute of Global New Medicine, Jeongmi Lee, asserted, “Through this University Centered Research Institute project, the Institute of Global New Medicine will take a leap towards the global level institute that has advanced infrastructure for integrated research of allostasis load. The institute will also become the leading Gyeonggi region-based research facility in the pharmaceutical R&D field that fosters new research manpower of excellence.”
