Professor Lee Dong-hoon of the Department of Education, <selection of excellent project for disaster safety R&D performance>, awarded the Minister Prize of the Public Administration and Security

In 2021, professor Lee Dong-hoon of the Department of Education (Director of the Trauma and Psychological Health Research Institute) received the Minister Prize of the Public Administration and Security in recognition of his contribution to disaster safety through national R&D at the <Ministry of Public Administration and Security, Disaster Safety Research and Development Results Excellent Project Selection Evaluation Committee>.

Professor Lee Dong-hoon carried out an assignment of <Development of psychological support modeling through disaster analysis> supported by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration from 2014 to 2016, and he further revised the Act on Counseling and Psychological Recovery for Disaster Victims in the <Basic Act on Disaster and Safety Management>. He additionally contributed to the preparation of the amendment to the Disaster Relief Act regarding the <Composition and Operation of Disaster Psychological Recovery Support Teams in Central Governments and Provincial Governments> so that experts in related fields cooperate with government’s ministries by effective response in large scale national disasters.

In addition, to support effective psychological recovery of disaster victims, he contributed to the development of the National Standard Work Manual containing disaster response rules, a simple psychological evaluation tool for disaster victims, and a psychological recovery support program through the app. Based on the research results, he published more than 10 SSCI-level papers and more than 20 KCI-level papers related to disasters and trauma, and was awarded the Best Paper Award by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies.

Professor Lee Dong-hoon said that he will continue to do his best to contribute to uncover the social problems and research in related fields through continuous research on disaster psychology and trauma.
