Lectures provided by Prof. Park So Jeong (College of Confucian Studies and Eastern Philosophy) and Prof. Kim Kyong Hwon (University College) were selected as the top 100 of 2021’s Most Popular Courses

Prof. Park So Jeong (College of Confucian Studies and Eastern Philosophy)’s <Introduction to Korean Philosophy and Culture> and Prof. Kim Kyong Hwon (University College)’s < A Bridge to the World: Korean Language for Beginner 1>, which were offered through Coursera, were selected as the top 100 of 2021’s Most Popular Courses among 2900 candidate courses uploaded on Coursera, EdX, FutureLearn, and Swayam platform in 2021.

Prof. Park’s <Introduction to Korean Philosophy and Culture> is the firstly introduced Korean philosophy lecture in Coursera. It provides the basics of Korean philosophy to global students who have interests in Korean Culture. Considering most of the lectures ranked in the top 100 are practical courses such as Excel, Python, Foreign Language, and Investment Management, it is very meaningful that Prof. Park’s philosophy course is in the top 100.

Prof. Kim’s <A Bridge to the World: Korean Language for Beginner 1> is an introductory course on Korean Language to cultivate basic Korean communication skills for students. In this course, students can learn basic Korean grammar using daily life expressions and basic conversations, so the course has been very popular as a helpful course for students learning Korean for the first time.

Coursera is the world’s largest MOOC platform. It opened in 2012, and now there are 77 million learners. In the platform, our university’s professors including Prof. Park and Prof. Kim are teaching their own courses – Prof. Lee Keum Hee (Korean Linguistics), Prof. Nielsen Young Ju Lee (Graduate School of Business Administration), Prof. Kim Sang Woo (Advanced Materials Science and Engineering), and Prof. Lee Jee Hyong (Department of Computer Science and Engineering).
