On May 9^th, President Dong Ryeol SHIN and Vice-Presidents visited Tsinghua University in Beijing, China to have a discussion with Vice-President XUE Qikun. This is a second visit after the former president Kyusang CHUNG's visit on June 2016.

Two universities have been interacting since 2006 started by a faculty-level exchange between the College of Information and Communication Engineering. It has been expanded to other colleges such as Humanities, Business, Confucian Studies, Library, etc. SKKU has also established a MoU for a joint project on building “smart city” in December 2015.

In this meeting, two universities discussed about opportunities for student exchange and interaction in the area of AI. Tsinghua University established the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in June 2018 and seeks to partner with SKKU, which has been selected by the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT as one of three candidates (SKKU, KAIST, Korea University) for AI Graduate school. Furthermore, SKKU has invited students from Tsinghua University to join Nation-wide walk event and the International Summer School program.

Tsinghua University is ranked No.1 in China and 17^th in the 2019 QS World Ranking. It is a prestigious university that has produced a Nobel Prize laureate (Physics) and chairmans of the CCP (Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping). The university has made great achievements in the field of science and has a pivotal role in training science & technology talents under the auspices of the Chinese government.

On May 10^th, President SHIN also visited the Central Party School to join the seminar with Vice-Chief and Vice-President of the school to discuss about academic exchange between two institutions.

Sungkyun Institute of China Studies made an agreement with the Central Party School in March 2013 and held a meeting regularly. A university-wide agreement was made in July 2018.

Dean Junggeun SHIN (College of Confucian Studies) gave two presentations on “Comparing Korean and Chinese Confucianism: Defining 21^st century Confucianism” and “Situation in East Asia: Changing China-US relationship and development plan for Korea-China relationship”.

President Dong Ryeol SHIN said, “We wish to continue exchange with China’s elite institution for mutual advancement.”

Central Party School of China is an educational institution affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party. It is the most top class institution for theory of Marxism.
