The last book of the “East Asian Esthetics Series” have been published under the translation project conducted by Professor Junggeun SHIN (Dean, College of Confucian Studies).

The series included books on Chinese Estheticism in different periods (2017), Modern Chinese Estheticism (2013), Zhuang Zi (2013), Yi Jing (2013) and the theory of main ideas in Chinese Estheticism (2013). With the completion of the latest book, the overview of the series has been completed.

This series provides the reader a general overview of the discourse in the study of East Asian esthetics by combining separate books with different topics. Prof. Junggeun SHIN, who has taken charge of the translation of these books have created a team with his colleagues and younger students to design a program for East Asian Art and Estheticism.

One of the major purposes of this series is to provide a simple translation for anyone who are interested in reading about East Asian Art and Estheticism. Authors have added annotations describing the details in the books (e.g people, location, terminology, etc.), so that anyone can read alone without the guidance of an expert. The authors have included the original Chinese texts along with Korean pronunciations. They have also organized the supplementary books as citations and introduced relevant research papers to help the readers.
