SKKU Holds 10th Central Asia Sungkyun Writing Contest 2018.10.24

On October 23rd, the 10th Central Asia Sungkyun Writing Contest was held at the grand hall of the Grand Mir Hotel, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. About 50 students from 21 universities in four Central Asian countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, competed for their Korean writing proficiency in the contest.


Burber-Hodja Yves Sarvar, the Vice Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan visited the contest to encourage students and released the subject of writing which was ‘WE’.

Student Nazarova MADINA who graduated from Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies won the gold prize. Her writing about the sense of community and Korea’s situation of divided nation received great acclaim by the judges. “I want to take a role as a bridge between Uzbekistan and Korea,” said MADINA.


The silver and bronze medals were awarded by Shin NADEZHDA from Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages and Rabbimov BEKHZOD from Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, respectively.


Hong Duk KIM, Vice-Chair of Erae CS who has been sponsoring the event for the past seven years attended to encourage students. “I could see the interest in Hangul and Korea has increased a lot in Uzbekistan by Sungkyun Writing Contest. It is my honor to be able to participate in the 10th contest," said KIM. Erae CS has sponsored about 150 million won for the Sungkyun Writing Contest from the 2nd competition.
