SKKU held a MOU signing ceremony with SIEMENS Healthineers Korea (CEO Myung Kyun LEE) for research and academic exchanges on September 7th at SKKU Natural Sciences Campus N Center in Suwon.

Many representatives from both organizations including the President of SKKU Kyu Sang CHUNG, Chair of Sungkyun Convergence Institute Dong Ryul SHIN, Director of Sungkyun Convergence Institute Sung Ki KIM, Managing Director of SIEMENS Healthineers Asia Pacific Elisabeth Staudinger, CEO of SIEMENS Healthineers Korea Myung Kyun LEE, and the vice-president of SIEMENS Healthineers Korea Gyu Eui HWANG participated in the event.

For the first time in Asia, SKKU purchased SIEMENS’s ultra-high field MRI device (7T) which acquired the US FDA’s permission for clinical use, and with this as a momentum, this agreement was signed in order to continue research cooperation between the two institutions. 7T MRI has been recognized as a technique to develop brain disease and functional research by making it possible to obtain various high-resolution brain images without risk of radiation exposure.

From this agreement, SKKU plans to operate joint research and internship programs, conduct regular meetings with the German headquarters, research using 7T MRI, and share know-how with SIEMENS Healthineers. Also SIEMENS Healthineers will support researchers who reside in the Joint Research Center at the N Center of SKKU and strive for mutual development.
