As one of the 2018 Korea I-Corps projects which prepare scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the university laboratory, and accelerate the economic and societal benefits of start-up exploration projects that are ready to move toward commercialization, SKKU’s Laboratory Start-up Exploration Team visited the National Institute of Health in the USA on August 8th.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) is the primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and public health research, founded in the late 1870s. The NIH comprises 27 separate institutes and centers of different biomedical disciplines and is responsible for many scientific accomplishments. Many researches are primarily conducted at the main campus.

At NIH, the team could meet 3 pharmacists graduated SKKU (Sydney KIM (Dept. of Pharmacy, Admission year 1978), Robert LEE (Dept. of Biology, Admission year 1993) and David LEE)). The students asked several questions to NIH officers in order to see the possibility of securing customers throughout lab technology and commercialization.

From this visit, the Laboratory Start-up Exploration Team will continue their exchange activities with NIH.

SKKU’s I-Corps project will continue until 2020. Every year, they select new members of the Laboratory Start-up Exploration Team. If you would like to get more information on the process, please call 031-290-5854 or send email to britney82@skku.edu.
