SKKU went up four spots in the Asian General Rankings. In particular, we placed 17^th for graduate reputation, up from 21st last year. This shows that SKKU graduates have been highly valued by corporate human resource directors. “This is thanks to an increase in students completing dual degrees and fostering the right talented people in industry-university cooperative specialised majors such as the Semiconductor Systems Engineering major,” says SKKU. Last summer, 1,737 students including 1,057 students from foreign universities participated in the International Summer Semester (ISS) held at SKKU. In addition, SKKU holds dual-degree programs in which students take some courses abroad (at MIT, Beijing University, etc) and obtain degrees from both domestic and foreign universities. Many of these students have found positions in global companies over the last couple years. Graduates of the Global Business dual-degree program have joined the American insurer Liberty Mutual Group, Klein and Company Inc, Microsoft Korea, and P&G Korea. SKKU has also climbed 11 levels from 35th to 24th in academic reputation, together with graduate reputation. “Sungkyunkwan University has achieved good results by raising influence of research and form partnerships with foreign universities/companies to increase brand value,” commented Ben Sowter, head of QS Intelligence Unit, “and at the same time making effective use of the relationship with the global company Samsung.”
