SKKU Enters into Top 100s on QS World University Rankings
On September 2012, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) which aims to be within the Top 50 world university ranks by 2020 has finally entered into the top 100s ranks.
Based on the announcements made by QS (Quacquarell Symonds: England’s world ranking organization) on the afternoon of September 10 (local time), SKKU has leaped over 80 ranks in comparison to last year and recorded ranking 179th place.
During last two years SKKU has been showing rapid increase on the QS rankings; as it entered into the 100s rankings in just one year after entering the 200s from 300s last year.
This year, SKKU was the first Korean university to acquire the QS 5-Star certification (with outstanding evaluations in 8 categories: education, research, infrastructure, internationalization, service, etc.) and entered into the Top 3 Korean universities (Seoul National University / Yonsei University / SKKU) on the Shanghai Jiao Tong University World Rankings. Moreover, entering the Top hundreds on QS World University Ranking has marked a new turning point in world university rankings for SKKU.
SKKU president Jun-Young-Kim stated that “Entering into the world’s top 100s university ranking was mainly due to improved global reputation and overall increase in global competence in education/research” and added that “this is a result of steady preparation on practical strategies that focused on securing global competitiveness, in line with our university
