Fostering global talents in the fields of university education, medicine and corporate business, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) established the SAIHST (Samsung Advanced Institute for Health Sciences and Technology), the first multidisciplinary research and educational center in Korea, in February 2011. In addition to this academy, the graduate school of health sciences and technology was established with 36 students from Korea and beyond. The purpose of SAIHST is to nurture medical scientists into becoming leaders in their chosen field.
The faculty consists of 40 experts in diverse fields – including 30 clinical instructors and professors of engineering, natural science, information communication, engineering and biotechnology, as well as 10 researchers from Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDS, and the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. These expert doctors, bioengineering professors, and researchers are dedicated to fostering a new generation of global talent.
With mutual cooperation between Samsung investments and SAIHST for its main studying fields of bio-similar, bioengineering, molecular imaging, regenerative medicine, biomedical information, and neuroscience, the academy is poised to become the leading university for these industries.
