Professor Ryu Doo-jin, Director of the Global Finance Research Center (GFRC) at SKKU’s College of Economics, has invited Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences Professor Myron Scholes (Stanford University) to deliver a special lecture titled “Time, Uncertainty, and Constraints.”
Professor Scholes previously visited SKKU in 2022 to give a commemorative lecture when the GFRC was established (at Dasan Hall of Economics, Room 32318B). He is currently serving as an international advisory board member for Professor Ryu’s national research and development project on global financial cooperation conducted through the GFRC.
Professor Scholes is a world-renowned scholar in financial engineering, best known for co-developing the Black–Scholes option pricing model, one of the most influential theories in finance that revolutionized the field of derivatives pricing. His groundbreaking research has profoundly influenced risk management and the structure of global financial markets.
This lecture comes at a timely moment, amid growing geopolitical uncertainties such as U.S.–China competition, global supply chain restructuring, and the Russia–Ukraine war. With the recent APEC Summit held in Gyeongju and rising policy attention on financial stability and uncertainty, the lecture is expected to attract significant interest.
