Sungkyunkwan University
has a long and distinguished history of 609 years. As one of the
most significant institutions in Korea, SKK University has played
a role in everything from the development of the Korean alphabet to
the teaching of Confucianism the underlying social philosophy of modern
Korean society.
As a contemporary center of higher education, SKK University has dedicated
itself to the pursuit of excellence. SKK University has two separate
campuses: the Humanities and Social Sciences campus in central Seoul,
and the Natural Sciences Campus in Suwon.
I am very proud of our 250-acre Natural Sciences Campus. This campus
is home to state-of-the-art research facilities along with our Science
and Technology Park. Taken together; this infrastructure affords our
650 professors and 17,000 students a wonderful research opportunity.
I am also proud of our top ranking medical school, the quality of
teaching as well as the research affiliation it has with the world-renowned
Samsung medial Center.
Our Humanities and Social Sciences campus is home to around 350 professors
and 14,000 students. The Humanities and Social Sciences campus was
founded in 1398 and its historic buildings have been designated as
national treasures by the Korean government. The Humanities and Social
Sciences campus is also home to our SKK GSB MBA program which is in collaboration
with MIT slogan and also the s-MBA program. Both are taught entirely
in English.
The majority of our professors are bilingual, most having obtained
doctorate degrees from world-renowned universities. This creates a
very interesting and dynamic environment and also one that promotes
diversity. I am particularly pleased with the fact that such conditions
are equally conductive engendering a hospitable academic and social
environment for both our visiting scholars and international students
alike.
I am honored to have this opportunity to welcome you to SKK University
and hope your experience will be rewarding and memorable.
Warmest regards,
Jung-Don Seo M.D. , Ph.D.
President of Sungkyunkwan University
